Setting the pace in the healthcare industry, we felt the need to improve the management of healthcare waste in Kenya. Statistics indicate that the business of a hospital generates large amounts of waste products that need proper and specialized disposable care. Some of the waste is Biomedical it mainly consists of: Human Anatomical Waste, Microbiology & Biotechnology Waste, Discarded Medicines & Cytotoxic Drugs, and Soiled plaster castes, blood soaked cotton, beddings etc, Wastes from pathological laboratories and blood banks. The waste is highly infectious and therefore needs to be carefully disposed off. Unfortunately most of the middle to small sized medical providers cannot afford to buy an incinerator. Hence the hospital felt the need to purchase an incinerator that not only serves the hospital branches but also other hospital, clinics. We believe this is the largest incinerator in East and Central Africa. The incinerator has the following features for complete incineration of biomedical wastes: Combustion efficiency of at least 99%, Gas residence time of minimum 1.5 seconds in the Secondary Combustion Chamber, Temperature range of 750 to 850°C and 1000 to 1100°C in Primary & Secondary Combustion Chambers respectively. The incinerator has the capacity to hold 200kg per run.
