Dr. Sam Thenya
Dr. Sam Thenya is the Founder and Group CEO of The Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Gender Violence Recovery Center and The Nairobi Women’s Hospital Medical Training College. He’s Passionate about Social entrepreneurship, women’s health and gender violence related issues.
Dr. Thenya chairs the Board of several companies with interests in Real Estate, Tourism Media and Health. He is a Board member of the Kenya Health Federation, Moving the Goalposts(an NGO that uses football to empower young girls and young women), among others
He has received many awards such as Kenya Human Rights Award for exemplary community service, The Order of The Grand Warrior by H.E, President of Republic of Kenya. In 2007, he was appointed by the AG as Chairman of the Medical Committee of the National task force on implementation of Sexual Offences Act. He has addressed many conferences, training’s and seminars in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, India, United States and France.
Dr. Thenya holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and Master of Medicine(M.Med) in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Nairobi, Executive Master of Science in Organizational Development (EMOD) from United States of International University (USIU).
In his free time he enjoys running, swimming, lawn tennis, reading and travelling. He is married with two daughters.
Dr. Felix Wanjala – Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Felix holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a graduate of Leading High- Performing Healthcare Organisations (leHHO) from Strathmore Business School. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (Operations Management Option) from the University of Nairobi. He joined the Nairobi Women’s Hospital in May 2013 as the Chief Pharmacist after a five year successful career as the Chief Pharmacist of AID village clinics and was previously the Pharmacist-in- charge for Kericho District Hospital. He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya.
Nancy Mwabili – Chief Human Resource
Nancy holds an MBA degree from University of The Free State School of Business and an undergraduate degree from The University of Nairobi. A member of The Institute of Human Resource Management (K), she holds a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute. She brings on board a wealth of experience gained in over 14 years working in different sectors including manufacturing, microfinance, INGO and trade. She has previously worked at Faulu Kenya DTM, ECLOF Kenya, and more recently at Heifer International where she worked as the Regional Human Resource Manager for the East Africa Dairy Development Project. She is also an alumnus of Alliance Girl’s High School.
Desderius Kiana Ayoti – Chief Information Systems Officer
Ayoti holds an MBA, a Bsc. CIS, MCP, MCSD. Ayoti has vast experience in the fields on Information systems and Finance, technical experience in ERP implementation and integration, database management, communication and network finance statistics. The Information System department is charged with a responsibility of Providing, Implementing, Supporting and maintaining of the hospital Information Technology systems, communication systems and Business support systems.
He joined Nairobi Women’s Hospital in 2011 from Nairobi Hospital where he worked for 14 years in different capacities.
Doreen Osiemo- Head, NWH-COLLEGE
Doreen has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Nairobi. She also possesses a certificate in HIV training and counseling, a certificate in good clinical practice and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Palliative Care nursing, and a certificate in First Aid. Until her promotion, Doreen has been working as a tutor. She joined The Nairobi Women’s Hospital in July 2012. She has immense experience having worked as a nurse and tutor. She has also worked as a Nurse Counselor at The Kenya Aids Initia- tive
